Downlands College has a rich and celebrated rugby history. Since the College’s inception in 1931, it has championed the sport of rugby and delivered a host of Wallabies including Tim Horan, Garrick Morgan, Peter Ryan, Brett Johnstone, Greg Holmes, Brett Robinson, Robert Potter, Thomas Bourke and many more. Downlands prides itself in that it does not play in an official competition but rather aims to provide its players with extended opportunities against a variety of opponents

It is an honour and a great privilege to represent Australia as a regional School at the SANIX World Youth Rugby Tournament for the second time. This event will be a highlight that I am sure every player will remember. Being gifted this opportunity again is something we are extremely proud of. Over the past 12 months, Downlands has been putting in the hard work and commitment, and this chance brings our team closer together while adding a real sense of excitement. Downlands Rugby is eager to showcase our brand of rugby on the international stage and demonstrate the style of play we are proud of at Downlands. I believe our style of rugby is worthy of this level of competition. This tour offers us the chance to challenge ourselves and learn from international opposition. Representing Australia is an honour, and Downlands will do so with pride. We are also excited to explore Japan and learn about the different cultures involved in the SANIX Tournament, as well as the various styles of rugby played around the world. We look forward to testing ourselves against these different structures and approaches to the game. Overall, this will be an experience to remember for both players and coaching staff. We cannot wait to challenge ourselves against the many schools involved. Our college is extremely proud to represent our country with pride and gratitude. We thank SANIX for the incredible opportunity they have provided.
