私たちの Condors 2025 への旅は、実は 2024年の準々決勝で敗れたこと がきっかけでした。その瞬間が私たちを一層団結させ、互いに努力し、信頼し合い、チームのために全力を尽くす決意を固めるさせました。そこから目標は明確でした。2025年により強くなって戻り、Condors 7sのタイトルを守ること。このチームのメンバーは、驚くべき献身と情熱を見せてくれました。私たちが共に成し遂げたことを誇りに思うと同時に、試合に出たかどうかに関わらず、ひとりひとりの選手が持つ謙虚さをさらに誇りに思います。Condorsのサポートクルーは完璧でした。そして、けがをしてプレーできなかったメンバーが私たちに寄り添いその瞬間を共にしてくれたことにも、みんな心から感謝しています。こうした資質や特性は、毎日MANUKURAで学ぶ教えと mātāpono（価値観・信念） を通じて、私たちの中に深く刻まれています。NZ Condorsで優勝したことで、私たちは今ニュージーランドとMANUKURAだけでなく、私たちの家族（whānau）、部族（iwi）、分族（hapū）、コミュニティ（hāpori） を代表して、世界的に権威あるこのサニックスワールドラグビーユース交流大会に再び挑戦する機会を得ました。この挑戦は、チームのために資金集めやスポンサー探しを一生懸命行ってくれた学校や家族のサポートなしでは実現できません。私はこの大会に出場するのは 2回目 となります。今回も、他の国々の人々とマオリ文化を共有し、学校交流に参加できることを楽しみにしています。私たちにとってこれが旅のハイライトです。他国の文化を学び、コアとなる思い出を作る貴重な機会になるでしょう。私の願いは、フィールド内外で素晴らしいパフォーマンスを発揮し、どんなことも前向きに受け入れ模範となり、そしてmana（威厳・尊厳）をもって行動することです。また、この場を借りて、私たちを支えてくれた コーチ、サポートスタッフ、家族 に感謝の意を表したいと思います。皆さんのおかげで、私たちは世界最高の相手に挑む準備を整えることができました。
Our journey to Condors 2025 really began after losing the quarterfinal in 2024. That moment brought us closer together, and we committed to one another to work harder, trust each other, and give everything for the team. From there, our goal was clear: to come back stronger and retain the Condors 7s title in 2025. This group of girls have shown incredible dedication and heart, and I’m so proud of what we’ve achieved together, but even more proud of the humility of every individual girl wether they stepped on the field or not. Our support crew at Condors was impeccable, and we were all grateful for our injured ones to come alongside us and be in that moment. These qualities and traits are ingrained in us through the teachings and mātāpono we receive at MANUKURA every day.
Winning NZ Condors, we now have the opportunity to represent not only NZ & MANUKURA but our whānau, iwi, hapū and our hāpori on the world stage once again at the prestigious tournament, Sanix World Youth Champs. This would not be possible without the support of our kura and our whānau, who are working tirelessly to fundraise and seek sponsorship for our team to attend.
This will be my 2nd time attending the Sanix World Youth Champs, and I’m looking forward to sharing our Māori culture once again with other nations and participating in a school exchange. For many of us, this is a highlight of the trip. Creating core memories and embracing cultures from every other nation that is attending.
My hope is that we perform well on and off the field, embrace everything that comes our way and lead by example and with mana!
I also want to take this opportunity to thank our coaches and support staff & whanau who have helped us along the way and continue to ensure we are ready to take on the best in the world.
